May contortion series: Drop Backs
4 classes for $75
Meets every Wednesday in May at 12pm EDT.
This series of 4 classes will focus on building or refining a sustainable and strong backbend practice. Each class is 60 minutes long with Q&A after, and you will have the option to join live and/or practice with the recording. Recordings available until June 15th.
This month’s focus is working towards drop-backs (going from standing to wheel and back up). We will use props, the wall, and a variety of drills to build applicable strength and flexibility. Students who are already able to drop-back will work on refining the movement, lowering to chest stand, ankle catching, and more.
Every class will include a total body warm up, strength and conditioning work, and specific flexibility drills. Over the course of the month you can expect to see variations of cobra, lunge, bow, wheel, scorpion, chest stand, camels, and more. Almost all classes include splits and oversplits.
Prerequisite: confidence lifting into wheel pose
May Handstand Series: Straddle & Middle split
5 classes for $90
Meets every Monday in May at 12pm EDT.
This series of 5 classes will focus on building overall strength, balance, awareness, and relevant flexibility for straddle handstand and middle splits. Every class will include a total body warm up, strength and flexibility drills, and conditioning exercises. Each class is 60 minutes long with Q&A after, and you will have the option to join live and/or practice with the recording. Recordings available until June 15th.
For those without a consistent freestanding handstand there will be drills both on and off the wall with an emphasis on increasing balance and confidence off the wall.
For those with a consistent freestanding handstand the focus will be on refining your shapes and transitions, as well as exploring more options like side bending, pressing, and OAHS prep.
There will be a variety of drills both on and off the wall to cater to all students, and everyone will be working on middle split drills between the handstand drills!
Prerequisite: 45-60+ second chest to wall handstand and the ability to jump up into a handstand even if you can't hold it long.
