The starting point for anyone looking to teach handstands.

Available live or recorded

with Irene Pappas and Dr. Robert Adams, DPT

Live sessions: March 16 & 17 from 10am - 2pm EST

Have you ever noticed how there are so many options when it comes to yoga teacher trainings, but when it comes to handstand trainings there are none? It’s time for that to change. This online handstand teacher training is the first in a series of installments, and is relevant for anyone looking to expand their knowledge about teaching or practicing handstands. Your teachers draw from more than 20 years of combined experience in the handstand world, and have trained in numerous other fields as well to give you the most comprehensive information available.

This training counts as 8 hours of continued education with Yoga Alliance.

What you will learn:

  • ANATOMY - Refresh and advance your anatomical knowledge of planes of motion, joint positions, and muscle groups relevant for holding a handstand. Learn how to apply this knowledge to create an individualized approach to teaching handstands for your students based on their needs. Dr. Robert Adams DPT will lead these sessions.

  • DRILLS & TECHNIQUE - Learn the most effective drills that almost all students can benefit from, and how to cater them to different levels.

  • HISTORY - Brief session on the history of handstands from a variety of backgrounds and looking at different alignments over the years.

  • PROGRAMMING - how to sequence classes and workshops, what drills to include, how to cater to individual students with different needs.

  • MINDSET - how to encourage your students to have a healthy mindset around training, and what that means for you as their teacher and inspiration.

Students that attend live will have the opportunity to submit videos of their handstands for breakdown and drill suggestions/feedback as a teaching tool for the group.

Meet Your Co-Teacher

Dr. Robert Adams

Robert has been teaching hand balancing for over 10 years. He was first introduced to handstands through his yoga practice and has been training hand balancing ever since. Robert is also a Doctor of Physical Therapy and is Board Certified in Orthopedics. He uses his understanding of the human body to inform how he teaches to help his students avoid plateaus and injuries. Robert also loves learning about and teaching anatomy in an applied and functional way. He is a kinesthetic learner and finds that students develop a much deeper understanding of anatomy by feeling it in their own bodies and also by watching others move.
